    VALHALLA CHAMPIONS


​Valhalla instructors have completed an extensive, instructor certification program. Beginning at the intermediate phase (Year 2-3 of training) and continuing on through black belt.


Those interested begin with an apprenticeship, warming-up classes and assisting beginners as interns.  After one-two years have elapsed, and they've attained a deeper level of technical understanding, they may become assistant instructors, teaching prescribed segments of classes under the direction of a Valhalla Instructor.


After they've earned their black belts and have completed the mandatory (3 year) instructor certification program, they may then take the Valhalla MMA instructor certification exam.


Valhalla MMA has instructors in Florida, Michigan and San Jose, Costa Rica.

Located in Port Charlotte, Florida, Valhalla MMA stands as a proud family-owned and fully independent gym/dojo, specializing in traditional and contemporary martial arts training, promoting local, regional, national and international MMA events, featuring a variety of combat sports, including Boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-jitsu and MMA. We embrace practitioners from all martial arts systems and disciplines, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome regardless of their system, linage, gym, affiliation or background.

At Valhalla, we are dedicated to maintaining ethical standards. We will not recruit students or fighters from other academies, if you are currently enrolled at a neighboring gym/dojo, you will not be allowed to sign-up at Valhalla. Our mission is to continuously work to establish and maintain positive working relationships with local and surrounding area instructors and gyms, as we believe collaboration and mutual respect are vital for a healthy martial arts community. That being said, we openly invite and welcome all local and surrounding area gyms/academies to participate in our regularly scheduled MMA events. We also schedule friendly "open mat" days, allowing different gyms/fighters to cross-train together.

We firmly oppose the "Martial Arts Politics" that plague gyms, often destroying relationships and damaging the local martial arts community. Unfortunately, we've experienced years of it. Our focus is solely on establishing and maintaining strong relationships, creating a supportive atmosphere where all participants can compete on a level playing field. We aim to provide a positive platform for fighters while upholding the integrity of the arts we teach.

**Fight Promotion**

Valhalla MMA is committed to offering a high-quality and professionally organized platform for fighters to showcase their talents. We host exciting local MMA events every three months, offering invaluable experience in front of friends, family, and a live audience. Our promotions are sanctioned by the Florida State Athletic Commission, enabling us to invite fighters from local and surrounding area gyms/academies to compete fairly under the strict rules and safety regulations mandated by the state.

Participants in our events can engage in a variety of combat formats, including:

- Submission Grappling (Gi/No Gi)
- Combat Jiu-Jitsu
- Sport MMA (Ages 8-17, No head contact)
- Boxing
- Kickboxing/Muay Thai
- MMA

**Gym/Dojo**

Since our inception in 1998, Valhalla MMA has proudly trained thousands of students, produced numerous black belts and instructors, hosted dozens of MMA events, and developed champions across state, regional, and international competitions. Our black belts are dedicated individuals who have invested countless hours mastering their respective arts to achieve their advanced ranks. We believe in genuine advancement earned through hard work and commitment, not as incentives for children or to boost our enrollment numbers. 


We are committed to teaching our students how to defend themselves, and they will learn how to FIGHT!  

So, if you're looking for a quick and effortless way to obtain a black belt, or if you desire your child to be repeatedly recognized and awarded belts without merit, this is not the right place for you.
